What are the Food Poisoning Symptoms?
Symptoms of food poisoning can range from minor to severe. Depending on whatever germ you swallowed, your symptoms may vary. The following are the most common signs and symptoms of food poisoning:
- Stomach cramps
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Fever
- Upset stomach
Symptoms
may appear hours or days after you consume hazardous (infected) food or
drink. Drink plenty of fluids if you have signs of food poisoning, such as diarrhea
or vomiting, to avoid dehydration (not having enough water in your body).
When
Should You See a Doctor If You Have Food Poisoning?
- Bloody diarrhea
- High fever (temperature in your
mouth greater than 102°F)
- Constant vomiting that makes it
difficult to keep liquids down (which can lead to dehydration)
- Dehydration symptoms, such as
little or no urination, a dry mouth and throat, or dizziness upon standing
up
- Diarrhea that persists for
longer than three days
